Auckland

Wirihana | South Auckland

In partnership with Te Ākitai Waiohua and Avant Group, Home in Place New Zealand delivered two and three bedroom townhomes as part of the Wirihana development in South Auckland.

These homes are offered as affordable rentals, providing quality housing at below market rent.

The homes form part of a wider 450 lot, mixed tenure community designed to support connection, accessibility and long term liveability. The development will also feature a neighbourhood café, daycare centre and a planned 3,000m² park with native landscaping.

Eleven of the homes are capital stock, marking Home in Place New Zealand’s first owned properties in the country.

Gloucester Rd | Manurewa

A new 34 unit social housing development on Gloucester Road, Manurewa, South Auckland has recently been completed.  With vision from developer Gloucester Rd Holdings, the homes are purpose built for comfort and connection. They provide a pathway for people moving from transitional housing and others in need of safe and stable long term housing.

The mix of homes includes:

  • 9 x two-bedroom units, each with a dedicated car space
  • 25 x one-bedroom units

Ground floor residents will enjoy generous private courtyards with decks that extend living space outdoors. On levels two and three, every apartment features a balcony that runs the full width of the unit.

These homes are part of a wider effort to provide safe, secure and well located social housing, supporting people as they move from transitional accommodation into a long term place to call home.

Westlight | Glen Eden

The Westlight Apartment development in Glen Eden was delivered in with the Ted Manson Foundation, the Ministry of Housing and Urban Development and Home in Place. This six-star Lifemark development, comprises of two towers with a mix of one-and-two-bedroom apartments and townhouses. as well as a community centre and retail shops on the ground floor.

The 171-unit development includes private, Kiwibuild and community housing residents.  It provides secure, long term tenure and a place to call home for the whole cross-section of the West Auckland population.

The 90 one-and-two-bedroom, purpose-built community housing units are managed onsite by Home in Place.

The mixed-use, mixed-tenure development sets a new benchmark in community housing in New Zealand and illustrates the type of development advocated by the Minister of Urban Development and the new Urban Development Authority.

The Westlight development provides a high standard of housing with Homestar 6 accreditation. As a result, Westlight households use significantly less energy and water, and will have less moisture or condensation issues, making it healthier and more affordable to live in.

Mangere East and Papatoetoe | South Auckland

Our fully furnished studio apartments in South Auckland provide a safe haven and affordable living arrangement through free electricity, water and free WIFI to some of our most vulnerable community members.

Our South Auckland residents range in age, gender and ethnicity with over thirteen countries represented across the two complexes at Mangere East and Papatoetoe.

Residents have formed close relationships with their neighbours and actively combine their collective skills and knowledge to achieve common goals. We are pleased that with a secure home, many are now engaged in employment, skills training and apprenticeship programmes.

The sense of community was evident during the COVID-19 lockdown period with neighbours looking after each other, shopping, cooking and picking up medicine if needed. The Papatoetoe tenants also worked with the Māori Wardens to make masks and put together care packages for distribution during the COVID-19 lockdown.

Clayburn Rd | Glen Eden

Soho Developments and Home in Place partnered to deliver 36 community housing apartments in Glen Eden. Ngahihi O Te Ra was officially opened in June 2021  and provides much-needed medium density housing within walking distance of key amenities.

The architecturally designed two-and three-bedroom walk-up apartments are spread over three levels, with outdoor living available on private balconies.

The apartments are divided between a series of separate buildings which enclose a central communal shared green space, providing room for more outdoor living. The location is within walking distance of Glen Eden town center and a range of Kelston schools.

The property was gifted the name Ngahihi O Te Ra by the local kaumātua in appreciation of the sun filtered through the trees surrounding the property.

The communal garden is the perfect spot for tenants to socialise, and enjoy the sunlight that gave the site its name.

Life Apartments | Auckland

To reduce the media stigma associated with social housing and to broaden the social networks for our residents, we support mixed tenure models of housing developments. These include community housing, affordable housing for those that are working in median income jobs and those in market housing for those in above median incomes.

The 18-storey Ted Manson Foundation Life Apartments in Liverpool Street, Auckland represents high-quality, world best practice, mixed tenure developments that promote and encourage social inclusion and integrated communities.

The Life Apartments in Liverpool Street, Auckland are safe, secure and low maintenance.

The apartments are close to public transport links and are only a 12 minute walk to the University of Auckland and just a few minutes walk to K Road and and Queen Street.
