We see ourselves as supporters, as guides to ensure that people and families have what is needed to live a healthy and prosperous life providing a strong hononga (connection) to the kainga (home) and the hapori (community) - he ringa akiaki, a hand up, a helping embrace, a hand for all.
Home in Place - he ringa akiaki - is delivering a new model of community housing properties and services in New Zealand. As a not-for-profit, regulated Community Housing Provider (CHP), we offer specialist tenancy and property management services in Auckland and the regional north island, from Wellington to Taranaki.
Our place-based approach to tenancy and property management services, focuses on improving the social and economic circumstances of our residents, as well as the communities in which they live, by delivering new and high-quality housing in mixed tenure communities.
Home in Place offers a range of community development activities for residents designed to foster social inclusion and personal development. Our focus on empowerment and support is a major contributor to our high resident satisfaction levels over the eight years of our operation.
Home in Place has established a solid platform on which to build future growth.
We have formed strong and productive relationships with the Ministry of Social Development (MSD), Ministry of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) and other key government agencies, and the private sector to increase the range and quality of affordable housing options across New Zealand.
As a member of Community Housing Aotearoa (CHA), we subscribe to their vision that "it is a basic human right for ALL New Zealanders to have a warm, safe, dry and affordable home”. CHA is the peak body for New Zealand’s community housing sector, and we are one of 90 members providing affordable, appropriate housing for approximately 25,000 people nationally across 13,000 homes.
